Day 1: Pickup and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Kampala or Entebbe, heading west towards Kibale Forest National Park. The journey takes approximately 5-6 hours, passing through scenic landscapes, tea plantations, and rural villages.

Along the way, you will have a lunch stop in Fort Portal, a picturesque town at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. After lunch, continue the drive and arrive at Kibale Forest in the afternoon.

Check in at your lodge and, if time allows, take a guided nature walk to explore the beautiful surroundings. Enjoy a relaxing evening as you prepare for the chimpanzee trek the next day.

Day 02 Chimpanzee Trekking, Primate Walk, and Birdwatching

Wake up early and head to the Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing before starting your chimpanzee trekking adventure. Accompanied by experienced park rangers, you will venture into the dense rainforest in search of the habituated chimpanzee groups.

Once you find the chimps, you will spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat as they swing through trees, play, groom each other, and communicate with loud calls. The experience is both thrilling and unforgettable!

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation.

In the afternoon, go on a guided primate walk in Kibale Forest, where you may encounter red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and more.

For bird lovers, Kibale Forest is home to over 350 bird species, including the great blue turaco, African pitta, green-breasted pitta, and black bee-eater.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 03 Community Visit and Transfer to Entebbe/Kampala

After breakfast, visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area known for its diverse wildlife and bird species. The wetland is home to sitatunga antelopes, monkeys, and over 200 bird species, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers.

After the wetland walk, engage in a community experience, where you will learn about the local culture, traditional crafts, and the daily life of people living near the park. This experience offers an opportunity to interact with local residents and support community tourism initiatives.

Later, begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, with a stopover for lunch. Arrive in the evening, marking the end of your 3-day chimpanzee trekking safari.
